Application Process

How to Apply for Your Student Visa

1

Get University Admission

Receive your official admission letter from a German university. This is the foundation of your visa application.

2

Open Blocked Account

Open a Sperrkonto (Fintiba, Expatrio or Coracle) and deposit €11,904. This proves you have sufficient funds.

3

Get Health Insurance

Enroll in a German public health insurance provider (TK, AOK, Barmer) and receive your membership certificate.

4

Prepare All Documents

Compile complete visa file. Get translations for non-English/German documents. We review everything before submission.

5

Book Embassy Appointment

Book at the German embassy/consulate in your country. Appointments are limited — book early, especially May–August.

6

Attend Interview

Attend your appointment with all original documents. Be prepared for questions about your study plans, finances and future goals.

Interview Preparation

How to Ace Your Visa Interview

📚

Know Your Program

Be ready to explain what you will study, why Germany, why this specific university, and how the program fits your career goals.

💰

Explain Your Finances

Know exactly how much is in your blocked account, monthly withdrawal limit and how you plan to manage living costs.

🔙

Show Return Intent

Demonstrate your intention to return home after studies or your concrete career plan in Germany (if you plan to stay).

📋

Organise Documents

Bring documents in a neat folder, sorted in the order listed on the embassy's website. Chaos raises red flags.

🕐

Arrive On Time

Arrive 15 minutes early. Bring original AND photocopies of everything. Late arrivals may be turned away.

😌

Stay Calm and Confident

Answer questions clearly and honestly. Short, direct answers are better than long explanations. Never lie.

What to Avoid

Top Reasons for Visa Rejection

⚠️ Incomplete or Wrong Documents

Missing documents, expired passports, unsigned forms or wrong photo size are the most common causes of rejection or delay.

⚠️ Insufficient Blocked Account Balance

The minimum is €11,904 for one year. Any amount less than this will result in automatic rejection on financial grounds.

⚠️ Unable to Explain Study Motivation

If you cannot clearly explain why you chose your program and university, the visa officer may question your genuine intent to study.

⚠️ No APS Certificate (if required)

Students from India, China, Vietnam and Pakistan without a valid APS certificate will have their application rejected immediately.
