MBBS in Germany is Free for Pakistani Students

Admission Possibilities:

There are three possibilities to take admission in MBBS in Germany.

1. With FSc/Intermediate Certificate:

Suppose students desire to study MBBS in Germany with a Pakistani intermediate or FSc certificate. Then they have to attend Studienkolleg first. Studienkolleg is a one-year foundation course (consists of two semesters). Students become eligible to apply for admission to a medical university after passing this one-year foundation course and university entrance exam (Feststellungsprüfung).

Students choose ‘M course’ in Studienkolleg to study further MBBS in Germany. The university entrance exam is similar to the NTS test in Pakistan. As mentioned above, the German language proficiency is also needed to take admission to a Studienkolleg. The normal requirement is B1 but better to do C1. It will reduce your chances to fail in the exams.

2. With A-Levels Certificate:

If students want to get admission to MBBS (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or pharmacy) with an A-level certificate. Then they need to make sure they studied one language, plus three of the following subjects; mathematics, biology, chemistry, or physics.

Knowledge of German language is required up to the C1 level. Each university has its own requirements. So better to check first university requirements. A-level students don’t require studying the Studienkolleg but they have to attend the university entrance exam (Feststellungsprüfung). After the completion of the language and test, they can take admission in MBBS.

3. With Two Successfully Completed Years:

If a student already completed two successful medical years in Pakistan. Then he can also take direct admission in MBBS in Germany. But knowledge of German language is required up to C1 to C2 level.

Some medical universities also take additional aptitude tests in the third possibility. To avoid this situation, it is highly recommended to bring proof of three months of practical nursing before application.

Duration of MBBS in Germany:

The complete duration of MBBS in Germany is nearly six years and three months. If you combine the language course duration and Studienkolleg duration, it becomes approximately eight years three months. Six years of German MBBS consist of four stages: Pre-clinical-stage, Clinical-stage, Practical year, and State Examination.

Pre-clinical-stage

The duration of the pre-clinical stage is 2 years or 4 semesters. It includes general concepts and topics of medicine. It ends with a final examination called examination for physicians or Ärztliche Prüfung.

Clinical-stage

The duration of clinical-stage is 3 years or 6 semesters. It includes core concepts and topics of medicine with full experience in a hospital environment. It ends with a second exam ‘Ärztliche Prüfung’.

Practical year

The duration of the practical year is 1 year and 3 months. In the final year, students experience real-life practice sessions in hospitals. Students have to pass the final stage State Examination after the successful completion of the practical year.

State examination

Students become approved medical practitioners in Germany on successful completion of the state test. Finally, they get a medical license which is called Approbation or Berufserlaubnis. With this medical license, they can work as a complete professional doctor.

MBBS Admission Requirements:

You need the following documents in order to apply for admission in MBBS:

  • German language proficiency certificate. Minimum B1 level, if you want to start with Studienkolleg. Minimum C1 level, if you want to take direct admission with A-levels or after completion of two years of MBBS in Pakistan.
  • Previous educational documents such as Matriculation and Intermediate Certificate. (Get attested both certificates from the concerning boards and IBCC.) If you want to apply for admission after completing two years in Pakistan then additionally get attested your two years MBBS transcripts from HEC.
