Germany is a well-liked country among foreign students. That is the reason; Germany becomes a popular education destination for foreign students in the non-English speaking world. Currently, around 374,583 foreign students are studying in Germany. These foreign students came from different parts of the world.
Year-by-year number of overseas students increasing in Germany. According to latest statistics; 340,305 foreign students enrol in 2016, 358,895 enrol in 2017 and 374,583 students enrol in 2018. Around 15,688 more students enrolled in German universities in 2018 as compared to 2017. The primary reason for this increasing enrolment is tuition-free education.

Then statistics show that; 36,915 Chinese students, 17,294 Indian students, 11,130 Austrian students, 10,795 Russian students, 8,908 Italian students, 8,618 Syrian students, 7,633 Turkish students, 7,527 Irani Students, 7,344 Cameroonian students, 7,202 French students, 7,037 Ukrainian students, 6,470 Bulgarian students, 6,201 Spanish students, 6,158 American students, 5,843 South Korean students, 5,445 Tunisian students, 5,297 Moroccan students, 5,006 Polish students, 4,938 Indonesian students and 4,928 Pakistani students are studying in Germany.
Here 282,002 are the foreign students that consider as Bildungsauslaender. Remaining 92,581 are considered as Bildungsinlaender. Bildungsinlaender is those non-native students who came to Germany for university entrance qualification. Bildungsauslaender is those non-native students who came to Germany for higher education.
China and India are the biggest contributors to Germany. Both countries are on top of the list from the past several years. Germany’s plan was to attract 350,000 foreign students in 2020. But this target is already exceeded in 2019.
